Area Police
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then discovered many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis show the substance was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for information.
An important political figure commented the incident made him stunned and had to be resolved promptly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
